Hello Dolly :A Re-Introduction (Part 1)

Dolls. the oldest toys in history, have not always been been a child’s plaything. In ancient times, they were objects of religious cults and magical images.  My digital photographs center on dolls that have surrounded me for over twenty years. When objects are part of your life for a long period of  time you actually stop seeing them. Through the camera lens, these dolls have taken on a new life ,capturing the life force and joy that dolls bring to people.  By viewing these, photos people could reconnect with their childhood and remember their favorite doll and possibly see a doll from a different perspective. It could be a Barbie, a Tiny Tears, a GI Joe or their Grandmother’s porcelain doll. By using a macro lens,zeroing in and illuminating various features, the doll takes on a quality of mystery and a magical sense of wonder, an eerie sense of beauty and a life of it’s own.
